I had to park in the disabled spot today.
There appears to be no parking for high top campervans.
Surfers tend to own campervans because:
1) The best surf is at dawn and dusk 2) Space for the surfboards! 3) Something to get changed in
The disabled bays have not reached 10% capacity in the 20 times I have been there. It's ok to relabel the bays to account for demand; it's not losing face because we didn't know how many bays we would need until the development is finished.
...I would cycle in from Westbourne with a bicycle trailer but even that is banned sometimes!
It does feel rather a lot like some rich bods have got together on this, people from an entirely different culture to the surf culture that brings the money in. There's some shortsightedness, and that money shortsightedness really does smack of the negatives aspects of wealth in the area.
Having said this, I like the development in general -it looks a bit like the south of France. It's just that it's full of British :D And spoilt Bournemouth British too. It's the £450 clamping fine outside the flats, and £150 release fee for being an inch over the parking bay.
Money just seems to have blinded the point of the project in the first place - people come to be happy. And that's what it should be about.
ok, rant over now. See, I've been here too long - oh no I'm a whinging pom!
